WGN-TV Chicago Weather App Reviews

I used to love this app until this latest version. They took away all of the color from the app so you can no longer see the day at a quick glance. It all blends together. Also, there is a glitch in the system. When you click on a day, say, Monday to get the details, it skips to Tuesday and gives you those details. This went from one of my favorite apps to one of my least favorite. Instead of taking a step forward, they have taken a step back. Bummer.

This app offers a nice selection of weather data, but it can often be wrong, sometimes a little and sometimes a lot.

When touching on a day in forecast on the main screen, it goes to the wrong day. For example if I touch Friday from the main screen it opens up the forecast for Saturday

Honestly, it could be a tornado outside my window and this app would have a picture of a sun! Sigh...

This app is the best weather app out there. I love this app. This app is my life. When Im bored I go on the weather app and BAM!Also when there is a tornado I go straight to the app. Thank you god for blessing me with this app.

OMG I SOO RECCOMEND IT WHEN THERE IS LIGHTING YOU GET A STRAIGHT ALERT AND HOW FAR IT IS AND OTHER STUFF I SOO RECCOMEND IT!!!! YOU HAVE GOT TO GET IT!! LIKE OMG SOO COOL but you need wifi. But I have unlimited data so cellular data is useful but YOU NEED it. Download the rest of WGN apps and you have real time alerts and you are ready!!!

Go to change settings and all it does is say Notifications arent turned on - but they are.

App is great, but notifications cannot be setup.

Colors are bland and reading the 10 day and hourly forecast gives me a headache now. Pinpoint on the radar too large. What were they thinking!! Do not upgrade to the new version!!!

This version is horrible. The interface is a downgrade. Its harder to read, harder to differentiate things.

I really dislike the new upgrade. I like that there is more info but I really dislike the look. It is very aesthetically displeasing to the eye. All one color so its hard to read and decipher the different days etc. Please change it back!

Graphics are horrible. Bring back the old! New is not always better...especially in this case. Whats with the giant blue blob of a circle showing my location? It could be 1/4 the size. Horrible.

I dont like the updated version of Wgn weather app

This is by far the ABSOLUTE BEST weather app I have! It is simple and accurate to use plus it gives very loud alerts before any of my other weather apps. I can now delete my ABC7, NBC5, The Weather Channel, WeatherAlerts and Hi-Def Radar apps with confidence.

Im not sure why they would fix something that isnt broken, but they did. I hate this updated version. The graphics are subpar. Needless to say, Im using another weather app now.

Sorry, I dont like the "dumbed down" look of the forecast and hourly. The colorful icons of the previous version made for a quick glance of the upcoming weather, now you really have to concentrate and read.

Last week I deleted this app because I was moving to TN. Now I am reloading it! I could not find an app with satellite images as good as this one! I will just be making TN my home screen.

WORST "upgrade" Ive ever seen. Take a fine application and make it UNreadable and monotone color. Terrible. (How about another "upgrade") - should be real easy to go back to the previous version!

Took something that was fine and RUINED the display, Graphics, fonts! WAY to small, The mono-chrome blue is terrible. (Tom would cringe!) How bout another upgrade back to the original displays

This version took away the ability to see the alerts. We have a tornado Warning! outside, and although counties are shaded red, there is no way to get the full text. The pop up window just displays the heading text - which is useless. There is no ability to scroll to see the times, severity, or county list (important since as others have noted the new map screen is very hard to read). This is not at all what I expect from WGN weather.
